Pomegranate Margarita
We made enough for six drinks ahead of time, so that when we were ready for another, we just shook it in the cocktail shaker with ice.
1 c. Pomegranate juice
1 1/4 c. Tequila Blanco
1/4 c. + 1 shot of Triple Sec
3/4 c. fresh lime juice
ice cubes
margarita salt (optional)
1. Combine all ingredients in a pitcher or a 4 c. measuring cup. To make an individual drink, add a portion to a cocktail shaker and shake, pouring into a salted glass. For a pitcher, add the mixture to the pitcher and stir.
Pomegranate Martini
1 part raspberry vodka
1 part Pomegranate juice (we used Pom)
1 part grapefruit juice (we used Ocean Spray 100% juice Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice)
3/4 oz. simple syrup
Juice of half a lime
1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Serve in a martini glass.
Key Lime Pie Martini
Gibson's steakhouse makes the best Key Lime Pie martini's, and that's where I got the idea for this one.
2 oz. vanilla vodka
3/4 oz. Rose's Lime Juice (Don't use regular lime juice, it's too sour!)
2 oz. half and half
1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Serve in a martini glass.
Mojito
1-1/2 freshly squeezed limes
leaves of 2-3 sprigs of mint (depending on size)
3/4 oz. simple syrup (the recipe is at the very bottom of the page)
2 oz. white rum
club soda
1. Add mint and lime juice to a large glass. Muddle the two together. After thouroughly muddled, add the simple syrup and rum. Stir quickly and add ice until the glass is almost full. Fill remaining glass with club soda. Gently stir to mix drink, but not too much or the carbonation will be removed.
Peach Sangria
A magnum or two bottles of Riesling (I like a dry one)
12 oz. peach nectar
Fruit of your choice (I like frozen peaches and fresh strawberries for this one)
Ice
1. Fill a large pitcher with wine and nectar. Add fruit. Refrigerate for 2 hours or more. Serve with ice in a glass. Great on a summer night!
I loved this cocktail on our honeymoon, so you could say we brought it back from Mexico even though it's a Brazilian cocktail. This cocktail is easy to make and takes a few inexpensive ingredients.
2 oz. white rum (If you can find Cachaca-a rum made from sugar cane-go for it!)
1 oz. simple syrup (the recipe is at the very bottom of this page)
Juice from 2 limes
Combine all of these ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and serve in a rocks glass.
Margarita(s)
Doesn't everyone love margaritas? We sure do! This one is great. We really experimented, and we feel like this is the most authentic margarita we have found! Convert the recipe to cups to make a pitcher.
1 shot of tequila
1/2 shot of triple sec
1/2 shot of brandy
3 shots of sour mix
ice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake and serve in a glass, adding ice carefully at the end.
Flirtini
This is one of my favorites because it's so easy and really good! I love martinis with a little sparkle on top. We replicated this one from one of our favorite sushi restaurants.
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. pinapple juice
splash of sparkling wine
marachino cherry
In a cocktail shaker, add vodka, pineapple juice, and ice. Shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass. Add the cherry and top with the splash of sparkling wine.
Mint Julep
2 Tbsp. Simple Syrup (the recipe is at the very bottom of this page)
3 fl. oz. (90 mL) bourbon (we used Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon)
3 large mint sprigs, for garnish
crushed ice
1. Fill a rocks glass or julep cup with crushed ice. Add the simple syrup and bourbon and stir (in a julep cup, you would stir until a frost forms on the glass). Garnish with mint springs.
Simple Syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
Add both ingredients to a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir constantly until dissolved. Move to another container to chill in the refrigerator until cooled.
Manhattan
2 1/2 fl. oz. rye, bourbon, or blended Canadian whisky (We love Maker's Mark)
1 1/2 Tbsp. sweet vermouth
2 dashes angostura bitters
1 maraschino cherry, for garnish
Add bourbon or whisky to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add the vermouth. The bitters have a very intense flavor, so try this trick: Dash the bitters into the Tbsp. and pour them into the sink. Use the Tbsp. with the residue from the bitters to stir the mixture in the shaker. Shake and add, ice and all to a rocks glass. Garnish with the cherry.
I also like to add a dash of grenadine to add a little sweetness too!
